Vintage Style Statement Ring With An Emerald-Cut White Topaz

New to our auction?

Why you'll love it:

A beautiful solitaire ring with vintage decor.

In the centre, sparkling with a subtle shimmer, sits an eye-clean topaz in a premium emerald-cut.

The setting is open so that as much of the stone as possible can be seen - this is a ring where the white topaz plays the leading role!

The beautiful milgrain decoration was common in jewelry around the turn of the last century (1800/1900). It is a technique where small gold dots create a romantic, almost fluted feeling in the ring band and around the gemstone, which gives the gold a soft sparkle and the jewelry a deeply well-crafted character.

This ring is in mint condition and has only been displayed in our showroom.

Retail value: SEK 15,990 / €1500

About The Topaz

The topaz is a wonderfully useful gemstone when you want a large stone at a relatively reasonable price. The topaz grows naturally in large crystals, and cutting it into large gemstones with a high carat is therefore comparatively affordable.

With a hardness of 8 on the Moh's Scale of Hardness, it is one of the hardest gemstones and the topaz is therefore highly resistant to getting scratched. Your topaz will remain beautiful even if you use your jewelry a lot!

Topazes, like diamonds, are almost always colourless, or have a slight yellow or brown tone. The bright blue topazes you sometimes see in jewelry are usually irradiated colorless topazes! Although rare, topazes can be found naturally blue.

Our colourless ("white") topazes are cut from raw rocks from Nigeria.

Care Advice For Topazes

Topaz is a durable gemstone thanks to its hardness, but due to its molecular structure, it has another weakness: it chips more easily on the edges than, for example, tourmalines or morganites. Therefore, you should be careful not to hit your ring against hard objects.

To keep your topaz beautiful and sparkling, we recommend that you wash your topaz ring every week, as dust, dirt, skin lotion, etc. can dull its sparkle.

About The Emerald-Cut:

The emerald-cut is a wonderful gemstone cut. It has few but large facets, which places special demands on the gemstone: that it has a high clarity. If the gemstone is not completely clean to the eye, any inclusions will easily be visible.

The few but large facets give the gemstone only a subtle glitter compared to, for example, the round emerald cut, which has 58 tiny facets (a facet is a small, polished, flat surface that reflects light) all over the surface.

This makes the emerald-cut suitable for you who have come one step further on your jewelry journey and appreciate other aspects of a gemstone than maximum sparkle!
