Why Gemstone Auctions?

Our gemstone auctions give you the chance to bid on exclusive gemstones that have not yet been set in a piece of jewelry. This gives you the opportunity to create your dream jewelry from scratch.

After the auction, let your imagination run wild and bring the gemstone to a jeweller that you love, or contact us to begin the custom process with our skilled team.

Please note that the finished jewelry is not included in the gemstone auction. The gemstone will be delivered to you in a pretty small package.

On auction this week we also have a beautiful solitaire ring with an exclusive blue sapphire. Find it here!

More About The Gemstone

Sapphires

Sapphires rank a hardness of 9 on Moh's Scale of HardnessSapphires have excellent durability and will retain their beauty for many years, even with daily wear.

Fanny shares:

Sapphire is a cherished gemstone today, but even the royalty of ancient Greece and Rome treasured this beautiful gem! In modern times, sapphires are still associated with royalty, and royals all over the world can be seen wearing this beloved gemstone.

Color & Clarity

Sapphires come in many different colors and shades, but did you know that more than 95% of the sapphires on the world market have been heat treated in order to enhance the color and improve the clarity of the gemstone?

This sapphire is a part of the less than 5% of sapphires that are completely untreated, meaning that both the clarity and color of this gemstone are the same as when the crystal was found in the earth!

The color of this gemstone is a rich dark pink in a beautiful fuchsia tone. The sapphire is eye-clean, which means that it doesn't have any inclusions that are visible to the naked eye.

Cut & Size

The carat of this sapphire is 0.96 CT and it measures 8.67 mm x 5.26 mm x 2.88 mm (length x width x height).

The sapphire has been cut into a drop shaped step-cut. A very skilled gemstone cutter is required in order to give a drop shaped step-cut the beautiful symmetry and parallel lines that this sapphire has.

Step-cuts are very popular since they bring out the color of a gemstone and show off its clarity, while still giving the gem a beautiful sparkle!

Origin

It was cut from a raw crystal found in the southern part of Madagascar. Madagascar is know for having stunning sapphires in various colors.

The cutting was performed by a small family-owned business in Sri Lanka. It employs four skilled gemstone cutters and is located in Beruwala, on Sri Lanka's west coast.

Sri Lanka is the country with the longest traditions of sapphire cutting in the world, and

Beruwala is known as the gemstone center of the country. The city was founded by Arab merchants over a thousand years ago, the same merchants whose trading trips first spread Sri Lankan sapphires around the world.

Tip to win the auctions

Download the free guide Tips To Win Your Dream Jewelry On Auction

We suggest you wait no longer than 1 minute before the auction ends to place your bid. Many people have the same strategy, and someone else's bid could become the final and winning bid.

A proxy can help you with this. Setting a proxy amount that is equal to your maximum bid ensures that even when you wait to make your last bid, someone else needs to bid HIGHER than your secret proxy to win – otherwise you will win automatically!

Good luck!

Secure shipping. Your jewelry is fully insured until you have it in your hand
